JUST A THOUGHT Often in business we have a short period of time in which to make a strong impression. There are many times when we have the ability to solidify an employment opportunity with just a little advance thought about what differentiates us as a Company or Individual. Proactive companies and individuals often have the most to offer, but by definition they are farsighted and tend to not reflect on past events. It is worthwhile to take several minutes to inventory our assets to assure more effective communication. Some of those assets may include: .. As a Company Position attributes and challenges, Position growth opportunities (technically, managerially and interpersonally), Company history, Company expectant growth, Executive profiles, Career planning programs, Educational and training programs, Benefit plans, Incentive plans and Community involvement. .. As an Individual Position responsibilities for all significant positions, Challenges and Accomplishments in substantive form for all positions, Managerial and/or Leadership skills, Interpersonal interfaces within the department and in other departments, Computer skills (spreadsheet, software, report writing, networking and database) and Community Involvement. A few minutes of preparation can make a career difference.
